Illegal trade: Illegal consumer goods, timbers, vehicles seized

An effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.

On 18 January, the on-duty teams under the supervision of the Customs Department confiscated 1,884 pairs of sport shoes that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) and three goods including 516.96 kilogrammes of Rothoances sealing gel that were different in the FDA approval from two containers at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint.

A Bago Customs team captured 680 cartons of Yogurt without official documents from a Nissan box truck heading from Mawlamyine to Yangon.

On 19 January, a total of 22.58 tonnes of illegal teak and hardwood was seized in Bago and Toungoo districts. An unregistered Pajero car was captured in Shwebo Township and an unregistered Canda 125 was seized in Nanyun Township.

A team of the Myawady Township Customs Department confiscated two goods including 10 two-wheel tractors from a Nissan car near Thingannyinaung village in Kayin State. Moreover, officials made inspections two vehicles on Tachilek-Kengtung-Taunggyi-Meiktila road and captured foodstuffs without official documents.

Therefore, 15 arrests (estimated value of 378.479 million Kyats) were made on 18 and 19 January, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
