




The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee initiated 29 cases and confiscated smuggled goods valued at 554.5 million Kyats on 4 and 5 April.
On 4 April, 1.05 tonnes of teak worth 158,110 Kyats in Lewe Township, unlicensed KENBO 125 and TARYAN 125 motorcycles worth 550,000 Kyats in Monywa Township, 180 bags of undocumented REPOL Polypropylene Homo-polymer valued at 13.5 million Kyats, along with a Yutong Bus worth 40 million Kyats used for transportation at the Nyaunghkarshay checkpoint in Bago Region were seized.
On 5 April, 720 undocumented five-litre bottles of edible palm oil worth 19.9 million Kyats and a Mitsubishi Canter valued at 20 million Kyats used for transportation on the road from Thaton to Bago, 80 undocumented used tyres valued at 6.4 million Kyats and a Pyay Truck (20 million Kyats) used for transportation at the Nyaunghkashay checkpoint in Bago Region, 33.8 million Kyats worth of eight undocumented commodities including TS spanners and light bulbs, along with 84 million Kyats worth of three vehicles used for transportation at the Ywathagyi Dry Port, 6 million Kyats worth of unlicensed Honda Insight and Toyota Mark II in Dagon Myothit (North) and North Okkalapa townships, 11 varieties of undocumented goods and four vehicles used for transportation, totaling 252.4 million Kyats in Lashio Township, five kinds of commodities, including China-made ceramic tiles and Alpha-branded cement bags worth 57.7 million Kyats from eight containers at the Myanma Industrial Port were confiscated. Authorities have taken action against the suspects under customs procedures.
