Iconic Brazil beach approved for swimming for first time in years

Beachgoers enjoy a sea bath at Flamengo beach, close to downtown Rio de Janeiro, which has been reopened for swimming for the first time in several years. Located on the Guanabara Bay and in front of the emblematic Sugarloaf Mountain, Flamengo beach has been dubbed "the dirty beach of Rio de Janeiro" by the locals, due to its proximity to the high maritime traffic and sewage runoff.
