Hundreds rally outside the impeached president's residence as a court orders his arrest

Hundreds of supporters gathered near the presidential residence in Seoul as a South Korean court issued an arrest warrant for impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol over his brief attempt to impose martial law.

The Seoul Western District Court approved the warrant for Yoon's detention in a criminal investigation into the decree. Yoon, facing charges of leading an insurrection, is the first sitting South Korean president to face arrest. This development adds to the political crisis, as Yoon’s impeachment trial is also underway at the Constitutional Court.
