Humanitarian Assistance: Relief supplies from Bangladesh, the Philippines and Laos

The Bangladesh Navy vessel arrived at Yangon Thilawa Port on 11 April, carrying about 120 tons of humanitarian assistance and food supplies for the earthquake-affected victims.

A ceremony to handover these relief items was held on April 12th where Bangladeshi Ambassador to Myanmar Dr. Md. Monwar Hossain provided an overview of the relief initiative. This was followed by the official transfer of aid supplies to Yangon Region Government U Soe Thein.

The Chief Minister then gave words of thanks for Bangladesh’s timely support in the wake of the disaster. These supplies will be distributed to the earthquake-prone areas under the supervision of the Yangon Region Government. Likewise, the humanitarian aids, consumer goods, rice and water, from the Philippines and Laos arrived at Nay Pyi Taw Military Airport on Saturday. The concerned officials welcomed the arrival of the relief supplies at the airport and accepted them.
