Human Rights: Inspection of Police Lock-up, Home for the Aged

Members of the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission (MNHRC) inspected the Twante Myo Ma Police Lock-up.  

During the inspection, the MNHRC team inspected the conditions of detainees during the remand period, including whether any torture occurred during investigation and there were opportunities to meet with family members as well as provision of food and drinking water, the handling of sewage, and the overall cleanliness of the facilities.

Also, the inspection team inspected the Mibagone Home for the Aged in accordance with the MNHRC Law and procedures to find out whether the residents were enjoying fundamental rights including health services, appropriate food, purified drinking water, right to freedom of religion, adequate dormitories and arrangements for leisure.
