HPV vaccination program: SAC member attends launching ceremony in Kayah State

The Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination program (state-level) to the students aged 9 to 12 years in Kayah State was launched at the State hall in Loikaw on Monday.

Member of the State Administration Council Porel Aung Thein, Kayah State Chief Minister U Zaw Myo Tin, State Ministers, officials and students attended the ceremony.

At the event, the State Chief Minister said that the HPV program aimed to prevent the infection to young girls and to prevent and control suffering of cervical cancer.

HPV has been given to girls aged 9 to 10 years starting 2020 and the school-based vaccination program is being conducted in September 2023 and the community-based vaccination in October.

He called for departmental officials, social organizations in cooperation with the locals for HPV inoculation to students in the state and all girls outside of the school. Later, a video clip commemorating HPV inoculation was shown.

After the photo session, the SAC member, the State Chief Minister and officials viewed around the school health education booths displayed by the State Health Department and HPV inoculation to the students and presented gifts to vaccinated students.

Afterwards, the SAC member, the State Chief Minister and officials inspected laying concrete on the road sections in Loikaw and official of the State Road Department reported on upgrading of road in the State for 2023-2024 fiscal year and progress of works.

The State Chief Minister reported extension of roads and bridges in the state on which the SAC member coordinated essentials.
