HOUSEHOLDS EVACUATED: HOUSES COLLAPSED DUE TO TORRENTIAL RAIN, HIGH TIDE

The torrential rain, high tide and strong wind caused destruction in some villages of Amar Township, Ayeyarwaddy Region on Tuesday afternoon.

Due to the heavy rainfall, high tide and sea waves, 152 houses in Mingalar Thaungtan Village and 1 house in Gordu village were destroyed.
No human and animals were injured and altogether 683 affected people from 153 households were moved to their relative houses, it’s learnt.

At the same time, 9 houses from Daw Nyein Village-tract were destroyed due to high tide on 20th October and 41 affected people have been also moved to their relative houses.

It’s learnt that the village administrators have issued warning to the families living along the coast to evacuate to the safe areas as the sea level may rise.
