






Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism, U Kyaw Soe Win, and the Minister for Economic Affairs of the Mandalay Regional Government, U Thein Htay, on 10th April, visited hotels in Mandalay that were damaged and destroyed by the recent earthquake.
They inspected the extent of the damage to both the interior and exterior of the hotel buildings, the ongoing cleanup efforts, and the plans for restoration and reconstruction. They also met with the responsible persons of the hotels and emphasized the importance of prioritizing safety and security while carrying out the operations.
In the afternoon, Union Minister, along with the Region Minister, met with officials from the Mandalay City Development Committee, hotel and tourism association representatives, business owners, and hotel managers at Hotel Hazel in Mandalay. During the meeting, Union Minister urged the hotel operators to collaborate with relevant experts to assess the extent of the damage to their hotel buildings.
He recommended that they follow the findings of these assessments and make necessary repairs and upgrades to open the hotels as soon as possible. He also emphasized the need to promptly address the damage and losses, systematically document and report the damages, and take quick action to resolve issues.
After that. the attendees presented details on the extent of the damage to the hotels and accommodation facilities, the ongoing efforts to restore the hotels to operational status, and the challenges they faced in getting their businesses back on track.
Region Minister for Economic Affairs U Thein Htay discussed various matters where the Mandalay Region Government would provide assistance and support. After clarifying and discussing the matters, Union Minister U Kyaw Soe Win addressed any additional needs and worked together with the attendees to find solutions and ensure the situation was managed effectively.
