Hotel service training courses :MoHT UM attended opening ceremony

The opening ceremony of hotel service training courses was held in Sedona Hotel in Yangon on Tuesday with the attendance by Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr. Thet Thet Khaing. This training course which is being implemented as a national activity project with the support of the ASEAN-Japan Center (AJC), intends to develop human resources in the hotel and tourism sector.

Also present at the ceremony were Yangon Region Economic Affairs Minister, Director General of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism, ministerial personnel, the Principal of the National Management Degree College, other concerned officials and invited guests.

At the ceremony, the Union Minister said that this training course covers three types of hotel services, namely reception, housekeeping and food and beverage service trainings. As tourism is a service industry, it is necessary for the service providers to be qualified and provide good services to the domestic and foreign visitors, she added. 

The Ministry opened human resource development training courses on a national scale and plans are being made to conduct 47 courses in coming year and also the ministry is promoting for boosting of tourist arrival in addition to human resource development courses, she said.

Then, the official of the Myanmar Tourism Federation gave a briefing about the opening of the course, followed by group photo session.

In the afternoon on the same day, the Union Minister attended the opening ceremony of the tour guide (basic) training course No.64 held at the Tourism Development Center of the Ministry, inspected the opening of Regional Guide courses and refresher courses for those who expired tour guide licenses and urged all trainees  to strive to become a good tour guide.
