Dozens of hot air balloons adorned with traditional Batik patterns rose above the Wonosobo area in Indonesia’s Central Java province, marking the Eid al-Fitr celebrations. The festival, held annually at the end of Ramadan, symbolized a day of victory for the Muslim community. Dating back to the 1950s, the event evolved with new regulations in recent years.

Participants secured their homemade balloons to the ground, adhering to a maximum flying height of 60 meters to prevent interference with commercial flights. Authorities restricted balloon releases outside the festival period, citing the tradition’s deep philosophical and religious significance.
