Horse-drawn sleigh operators have begun their activities on Lake Cildir, which lies on the border of Kars and Ardahan, offering tourists a thrilling safari experience across the ice. Lake Cildir, the second-largest lake in Eastern Anatolia after Lake Van, has frozen over due to intense cold weather. As temperatures dropped, the ice thickness reached approximately 15 centimetres, making it possible to safely venture onto the lake’s surface.

Spanning an area of 123 square kilometres, the frozen lake has become a popular attraction for visitors seeking unique winter experiences. Local and foreign tourists enjoyed the excitement of riding horse-drawn sleighs at full gallop across the icy expanse. Many expressed their satisfaction with the early start of the season, which allowed them to experience the iconic winter activity sooner than expected.
