










A ceremony to honour the athletes from Tatmadaw who won prizes in the 11th ASEAN Para Games and managers and coaches as well as winners in the International Army Games-2022 and the 3rd World Cadet Games-2022 was held at the Zeyathiri Beikman in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday with an address by Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
At the event, the Senior General said that sports can show fitness, great diligence and unity of a nation and its people. Military personnel are participating in sports competitions with the spirit of sportsmanship based on the nationalistic fervor.
In the 11th ASEAN Para Games that was held from the 30th July to 6th August this year, Myanmar athletes won 43 medals in track and field, swimming, weightlifting, archery and disability football tournament and ranked the 6th in the nation.
Among the honorary winners, 9 Tatmadaw sportsmen won 18 medals including 5 gold, 4 silver and 9 bronze medals.Tatmadaw has participated in the International Army Games since 2018 in order to have the technical experiences of the international military organization and friendship and now it had been the 5th time.
Tatmadaw Tank troop took part in the Tank Biathlon of the International Army Games for five times including this year event. In this year's Division-2 event, Tatmadaw won the 1st place among the 11 participating countries and won bronze medals in the pistol shooting competitions.
In the traditional Cultural contest in the Russian Federation, the cultural teams from the Myanmar Tatmadaw won prizes in instrument playing competition, duo singing competition (Russian songs), dancing and singing competitions and the best performance reflecting traditional culture competition and People’s Choice Award.
Cadets of the Myanmar Tatmadaw also participated in the 3rd World Cadet Games, standing eighth among 20 participating countries.The Senior General added that if reviewing the results of the international sports competitions, it was found that more achievements have been gained year after year.
He expressed his appreciations to Tatmadaw sportsmen on behalf of the country and the Tatmadaw as well as managers and coaches who trained for gaining success. He stressed on striving for higher achievements by reviewing the strong and weak points of the athletes in the competitions and the advantages of other competing countries and training the athletes with a spirit of comradeship and a desire to win.
He called for nurturing the nationalistic spirit for the state and Tatmadaw to promote prestige of the nation and to hand over good habits for the next generation.Then, the Senior General presented certificates of honour and honorary cash awards to the winning athletes who took pride for the Tatmadaw and coaches in the respective sports events of the 11th ASEAN Para Games and the International Army Games-2022.
Vice Chairman of the SAC, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice Senior General Soe Win presented certificates of honour and cash awards to outstanding Tatmadaw sportsmen.
Senior Tatmadaw officers also presented certificates of honour and cash award to the winning Tatmadaw atheletes and coaches. On behalf of the winning athletes and coaches, captain Than Toe Aung spoke words of thanks and reiterated that they will continue to strive for achievement and success in future competitions.
Later, the Senior General and party hosted an honorary tea party to Tatmadaw sportsmen and coaches and Myawady music troupe entertained with the songs. After the ceremony, the Senior General and party cordially greeted Tatmadaw athletes who won prizes in the 11th ASEAN Para Games, the International Army Games-2022 and the 3rd World Cadet Games-2022 and coaches.
