





A ceremony to honour the athletes who won medals in the Prime Minister’s Cup Inter-ministry Men’s/Women’s volleyball tournament marking the Diamond Jubilee Independence Day was held at the Ministry of Defence on Tuesday.
At the event, Union Minister for Defence General Mya Tun Oo expressed his appreciations that the athletes from the Ministry grabbed trophies deservedly at the competition that was held with the aims for uplifting the fitness of the entire national people and to emerge outstanding volley athletes who can take pride for the nation through the sports competition. It is proudly seen that the athletes representing the Ministry also won medals not only in the volleyball tournament but also in other competitions and they raised pride for the nation and for the department.
He called for them to continue to cultivate the spirit of being a good civil servant from the spirit of being a good athlete. The Union Minister urged them to strive for reaching the national team from the level of the Ministry’s award winning athletes. Later, Adjutant General Lt-Gen Soe Min Oo presented honourary cash award of the SAC Chairman Commander-in-Chief to the Ministry representing Men’s and women’s volley teams. SAC member Lt-Gen Mya Tun Oo then presented honoraria to men’s and women’s volley teams representing the Ministry. The winning athletes were served with a tea party at the event.
