
In the morning on 30th December, the Ministry of Defence held a ceremony to honor and congratulate the athletes who represented the Ministry and won the Championship Trophy in the Inter-Ministerial Sports competitions during the Fifth National Sports Festival 2024.
The event was attended by member of the State Administration Council, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Defense General Maung Maung Aye, Chairman of the Ministry of Defence's Sports Victory Committee Lt-Gen. Soe Min Oo, senior military officials, responsible personnel, and athletes who participated in the competition representing the Ministry of Defence, as well as coaches and managers.
The Union Minister expressed his happiness and pride for the Ministry of Defence athletes, who won the Championship Trophy at the Fifth National Sports Festival. He also recognized the achievement of setting new records for women's athletics events, both in the ministerial and national level.
He pointed out that the success of athletes can reflect the development of a country, emphasizing that the results are a source of pride for the Ministry of Defence and the Tatmadaw. He urged everyone to continue striving to become the excellent athletes who are treasured by the nation.
Following this, Union Minister presented cash award of honor to the winning teams representing the Ministry and accepted the Championship Trophy handed over from the victorious sports teams.
Later, on behalf of the athletes from the Ministry of Defence, one athlete expressed gratitude, and the guests and winning athletes were honored with tea.
The Ministry of Defence's teams participated in six different sports events in the Inter-Ministerial level, winning a total of 14 gold, 10 silver, and 10 bronze medals, for a total of 34 medals, resulting in the Ministry of Defence securing the Championship Trophy.
