In honor of the body donors, University of Medicine (Mandalay) record them on the memorial wall and the donor’ families can place flowers on that wall.

About 1,000 body donors come to donate to the University of Medicine (Mandalay) every year. As a result, there can gain many benefits for both medicinal trials and medical student training.

Rector, Head , Department of Anatomy, University of Medicine (Mandalay), Dr. Maung Maung Latt, said " About 1,000 body donors come to donate to the University of Medicine (Mandalay) every year but actually only about 30 -50 dead bodies arrive. We have memorial wall to honor the body donors. The donor’ families can place flowers on that wall."

Since 1964, the names of donors have been recorded and until now and on the other hand cadaver donors are the immaterialunbodied teacher for the medical students to learn and observe about medicine. And then, a ceremony to pay respects them has been held for 5 times.

Rector, Head,Department of Anatomy, University of Medicine (Mandalay), Dr. Maung Maung Latt, said " To prevent decomposition, a cadaver was preserved with two embalming methods – with Formalin and soft body. In the case of soft body embalming consists of formalin, phenol and other anti-fungal. Soft embalming methods have made the bodies more 'lifelike' and better suited for training. Those cadavers are kept frozen under minus 10. So, we have to access electricity continuously. We have to bury that body after we used it for three times. We can place body used formalin for a period of time. That is the differences between formalin and soft body. Each have their own advantages."

The person who would like to donate can register at University of Medicine(Mandalay). Copy of NRC card and apassport photo are brought and be accompanied by the family member as the witness. Except for the plague, diarrhea, small pox, cancer and other infectious diseases, the public can contact the department of Anatomy, University of Medicine (Mandalay) to donate their bodies.
