





Myanmar exported about 2,000 tons of honey to the foreign markets including the markets of the Republic of Korea, Japan, America, Singapore and Thailand between April 2022 and March 2023, according to an official of Apiculture Division under the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department.
Myo Tin, Deputy Director, Apiculture Division, said " Myanmar honey is mainly produced from Kachin and Shan states (North and South) in November and December. The rubber honey is produced in eastern BagoRegion and Mon Statein February and March and the plum honey is produced in Magway and Mandalay regions in the mid of the year. Myanmar produced over 4,000 tons of honey this year – out of them, over 1,900 tons of honey were exported to the foreign markets and around 2,000 tons were consumed domestically. We have also been sharing the bee keeping and pollination technology with bee keepers."
Apiculture and honey production businesses are primarily engaged in Shan, Kachin, Kayin and Kayah states and Sagaing, Bago, Magway, Mandalay and Yangon regions, it’s learnt.
