Hollywood stars walk red carpet at Governors Awards

US film stars walk the red carpet at the Academy's Governors Awards in Los Angeles as Hollywood's award season begins in earnest ahead of the Oscars in March on Sunday.  Among the first arrivals are Ariana Grande, Jeremy Strong and Elle Fanning.

The 16th annual Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences event, considered a crucial stop for award season contenders, is presenting Honorary Awards to Tom Cruise, Debbie Allen and production designer Wynn Thomas. Wynn Thomas, who is receiving an honorary Oscar expressed hope that storytelling will remain important and celebrated by everyone, regardless of future developments such as the rise of AI.
