Hoisting golden umbrella: Bago Region CM attended the ceremony

A  grand auspicious ceremony of hoisting Diamond Bud, Pennant-shaped ornamental vane and golden umbrella atop the historic Shwe Gu Lay pagoda in Kalyarni Ward of Bago in the morning on March 12.

First, the Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win, along with his wife and distinguished guests, received the Nine Precepts from the presiding Sayadaw of the Ussasiri Monastery in Bago. Following this, the members of Sangha, the devotees led by the Chief Minister performed the traditional rituals associated with the hoisting of the pagoda's umbrella. After that, they listened to a sermon, made offerings, and shared merit by pouring water in a ceremonial act.

Subsequently, led by the members of Sangha, the Chief Minister and wife, Region Government  Ministers and their spouses, and donors carried the sacred Diamond Bud, Pennant-shaped ornamental vane and golden umbrella in a grand procession around the pagoda in a clockwise direction. They then placed these sacred items onto a ceremonial palanquin, sprinkled scented water, and hoisted them to the pinnacle of the pagoda.

Additionally, the members of Sangha performed the consecration ceremony at the historic Shwe Gu Lay Pagoda in the Kalyani Ward of Bago. The Chief Minister and wife, along with other officials, offered alms to the attending members of Sangha and provided meals to the devotees, it’s reported.
