Hoisting diamond bud: Mon State CM attended the ceremony

Mon State Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein, Commander of South-East Command Maj-Gen Kyaw Lin Maung and wife and State Ministers attended a  grand auspicious ceremony of hoisting Diamond Bud, Pennant-shaped ornamental vane atop the Kyaik Thoke Hair Relics pagoda and gilding  full circumference of the pagoda in Mawlamyine Township in the morning on March 13.

First, the Mon State Chief Minister and congregation received the Nine Precepts from the presiding Sayadaw of the Shwe Taung monastery.

Following this, the devotees led by the Chief Minister and Commander of South-East Command performed the traditional rituals associated with the hoisting of the pagoda's diamond bud and onamental pennant-shaped vane. After that, they listened to a sermon, made offerings, and shared merit by pouring water in a ceremonial act.
