Hoisting diamond bud: Bago Region CM joined the ceremony

The ceremony of hoisting Diamond Bud and ornamental vane atop the ancient historic Mahajina Kyaikkalunpun pagoda situated in Bo Gone 18-ward of Bago Township in the morning on March 19th with the attendance of Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win.

First, the congregation led by the Chief Minister observed nine precepts administered by the presiding Sayadaw of Zayyarthiri Asoka monastery Baddanta Sirinda and the Paritta flowers, water, thread and sand were offered to the members of Sangha.

After reciting Paritta suttas by the members of Sangha, the Paritta flowers, water, thread and sand were scattered at the land of pagoda area and the chief minister and officials offered Diamond Bud, ornamental vane and offertories to the members of Sangha.

Then, the congregation took the sermon from the presiding Sayadaw of Bago Mahasi Sasana Yeiktha and shared the merits gained.

Next, the chief minister, members of region government, departmental officials and well wishers conveyed the Diamond Bud, ornamental vane around the pagoda in clockwise direction, sprinkled them with the scented water and hoisted them atop the pagoda at the auspicious time while the members of Sangha reciting the victorious Pali verses and conducting the consecration. Then, commemorating the achievement of consecration ceremony, the banknotes were tossed and the well wishers catered the charity feast. 

The ancient historic Mahajina Kyaikkalunpun pagoda was built during the reign of King TeikthaRaja who was the last king of the first Hanthawady era in 1045 AD, it’s reported.
