
Kathy Hochul became the first female governor of New York on Tuesday, inheriting immense challenges as she takes over an administration facing criticism for inaction during Andrew Cuomo's distracted final months in office.
Gov. Kathy Hochul, (D) New York said "We also talk about how we'll be combating COVID, getting direct aid to New Yorkers more quickly and changing the culture of Albany, and that's why I'm looking forward to a fresh, collaborative approach. That's how we've always conducted myself and we nothing new for me, but is something I'm planning on introducing to the state capital."
Hochul was formally sworn in as governor just after midnight. A ceremonial swearing-in was repeated before the media on Tuesday morning, in which Hochul took the oath of office.
