On Friday, Hluttaw Parliamentary Education Materials were officially launched in Yangon by Hanns Seidel Foundation in cooperation with Pyithu Hluttaw and Amyotha Hluttaw.
The publishing aims to foster the people orientated approach of the parliaments to communicate with the people of Myanmar for better politically educated people.
About 12 publications have been developed so far by the Foundation in cooperation with the Pyithu and Amyotha Hluttaws.
These materials explain about the works of the parliamentary members, and it could help the public to know more about the process of the parliaments, the officials said.
Resident Representative, Hanns Seidel Foundation, Achim Munz said “The main one is the brochures describing the processes, the work of the members of parliaments so they can take this brochure out to the people and communicate about their work. Other publications relate to registry of all parliamentarians. There is a very big map. On the map, you can locate all of the parliamentarians and so you can also hang it up in the office. So, it is easier to identify which part of parliamentarians comes from which constituency.”
Plans are underway to provide Hluttaw Parliamentary Education Materials online through website and application for easier accessibility.
Resident Representative, Hanns Seidel Foundation, Achim Munz said “This is what we look forward to in the future. Of course, we have to do very close cooperation with the Myanmar Union Hluttaws. We also want to ensure that the quality is very good and also to make sure all the information that is communicated is correctly because parliaments are the heart of the democracy”
The materials mainly focus on providing relatively easy to read information about processes in the Hluttaws and tasks of the members of parliaments.
