Historical sites in Ahlat blanketed in snow

The historic district of Ahlat, located in eastern Turkiye, has been transformed into a breath taking “visual feast” following heavy snowfall. The region’s iconic landmarks, now draped in a pristine white veil, have drawn significant attention for their ethereal beauty.

The Selçuklu Meydan Cemetery, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List, became the center of attention. The monumental tombstones of the cemetery—the largest Turkish-Islamic graveyard in the world—offered a striking contrast against the thick snow cover.
