High Seas Treaty: “a great victory" as 70 countries set to ratify”

At the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC) in Nice, Olivier Poivre d'Arvor, special envoy of France for the UNOC announced that some 70 countries will be present on September 23 for the official ratification ceremony of the High Seas Treaty (BBNJ), an agreement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas. He added that this was "a great victory, as it is very difficult to work on the ocean at the moment."
