In Yangon areas, high-rise building construction projects have increased within three years and the High-rise and Public Building Project Committee (HPBC) was formed to check the strength of buildings.
The HPBC was formed as one of the authorized body responsible for the effective control of the high-rise building construction projects in Yangon and other cities in Myanmar.
Aye Win, Joint-Sectary, HPBC said “All the projects were first submitted to the Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC) for construction permits. Then, YCDC transferred to us for final check and inspecting the buildings. We check the infrastructures like electric power supply, solid waste disposal, elevators and proper treatment of sewage disposed from new high-rise apartments. We also check the architecture and construction section with our relevant specialists and approved it. During the construction period, our inspection team has made surprise-check to the construction sites. We believe that this way can protect the life of people and their properties.”
Currently, there are over 200 projects with 12-storey and above that have already been inspected by HPBC.
