Heavy snow continues in Sea of Japan coast areas

Heavy snow continued to hit areas on the Sea of Japan coast on Tuesday, causing flight cancellations and delays to train services.

The famous ski resort town Myoko in Niigata Prefecture recorded a snowfall of 115 centimeters - two times higher than the amount usually recorded there in the winter season. Weather officials are warning of heavy snow in areas along the Sea of Japan, and are urging people there to refrain from non-essential outings. The Japan Meteorological Agency says a severe cold air mass is flowing over the country, bringing strong winds and snow.
