Continuous monsoon downpours have caused widespread flooding, waterlogging, and traffic disruptions across Maharashtra. Rivers are overflowing in Ratnagiri, Sangli, and Kolhapur, while homes were submerged in Nanded’s Mukhed taluka. Seven gates of the Radhanagari Dam were opened on Monday due to persistent rainfall.

Authorities have issued alerts for residents near riverbanks and urged vigilance. In Mumbai, severe waterlogging has disrupted road traffic, train services, and bus operations. The India Meteorological Department has issued a Red Alert for Mumbai on August 18 and 19, leading to school closures and deployment of the National Disaster Response Force, with citizens advised to stay indoors and follow safety guidelines.
