Heavy rains flood northern Italy

Northern Italy was hit by heavy rain on Tuesday afternoon, causing floods and evacuations near Bologna and Ravenna.Despite the disruptions, locals welcomed the rain as it is expected to ease the lack of water and the risks of drought in the summer.

Water levels in Italian rivers, particularly in the north, are very low due to poor snowfall during the winter, causing serious concerns about water supply for the upcoming hot summer season.The Italian Fire Fighters reported that the Sillaro River overflowed near Massa Lombarda, leading to the protective evacuation of several families. Firefighters also rescued two people who were stuck in their home.
