Heavy rains cause flooding along Ecuador coast

Residents across Ecuador were on high alert for flooding on Monday after heavy rain wreaked havoc across the Latin American country.

In the coastal city of Esmeraldas, the Blanco River has burst its banks, threatening lives and properties. Streets were also seen flooded in Machala and Guayaquil. Officials have ordered evacuations in areas which were affected by the flooding.
