Japan’s Meteorological Agency has issued a weather disaster warning for the Mino region in the western part of Aichi Prefecture and Gifu Prefecture due to a linear rain band. The agency says about 100 millimeters of extremely heavy rain is believed to have fallen in Aichi Prefecture’s Nagakute City.

Meanwhile, Nagoya City in central Japan recorded 101.5 millimeters of torrential rain in the one-hour period ending at 4:50 PM local time. According to the agency, this is the highest hourly rainfall ever recorded in the city since recordkeeping began in 1890.
