Heavy rain causes floods in parts of Thailand

Heavy rainfall in north, northeastern and central Thailand caused severe flooding in many parts of the country on Monday. In Ubon Ratchathani, many areas were already flooded when the remnants of Tropical Storm Noru turned a tropical depression swept through the city last week.

With Moon River continuing to overflow, more than 7,000 people were moved into 60 shelters provided by the city and authorities said the flood water level was continuing to rise. Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported floods caused by seasonal monsoon rains and overflowing rivers impacted at least 45,000 household in 35 provinces.
