Healthcare Services in Bago Region: Oxygen plants and quarantine centers set up

Awareness programmes were conducted in 28 townships of Bago Region to prevent and control COVID-19 outbreak. Also, departmental organizations and health workers carried out the COVID-19 vaccination programme in far-flung areas. 

In accordance with the instructions of the Bago region chief minister, oxygen plants and quarantine centers were set up at the hospitals in 28 townships of the Bago region to give treatment to COVID-19 patients.

Head, Bago Region Public Health & Treatment Dept., Dr. Thiha said " We have already prepared treatment and quarantine centers and spaces at the hospitals for emergency situation and also for ICU units at 500-bed and 200-bed hospitals. With the aid from the Bago region Government, we have already set up oxygen plants at the hospitals in 28 townships of the region. We’ve also set up liquid oxygen plants at the 500-bed Bago General Hospital and Pyay Hospital. So, We don't need to worry about oxygen. In addition, a company donated ICU equipment worth $ 40,000 to the Bago Region Government and we have already distributed those to needy places in the Region."

The Head of the Bago Region Public Health & Treatment Dept. also urged the public to follow the COVID-19 prevention guidelines set by the Ministry of Health.

Head, Bago Region Public Health & Treatment Dept., Dr. Thiha said "Everyone should get COVID-19 vaccines. A booster shot should be considered 6 months after completion of the primary vaccination series. That is a very important fact and we have to wear masks in crowd and wash hands for 20 seconds and follow cough ethics. You should avoid crowds as much as possible and if you have to, you must wear masks."

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Most people who fall sick with COVID-19 will experience mild to moderate symptoms and recover without special treatment. However, some will become seriously ill and require medical attention.
