




As temperatures rise this summer, the Ministry of Health released a public notice about protection from excessive heat not to happen unwanted results due to high temperature.
The ministry urged people to go to the nearest hospital and clinics if people suffer heat stroke. Likewise, extreme heat can cause heat stroke such as serious body temperature, dry sweat, delusion, fainting and convulsion.
Director, Department of Public Health (MOH), Dr.Than Naing Soe said “As the weather heats up, extreme heat can impact our health in many ways such as - losing water and minerals from our bodies, overload of works for heart and blood vessels, the appearance of itchy rashes on the skin, fatigue due to heat waves, dizziness, headaches, dry sweat and high body temperature and finally it can happen unconsciousness and be life threatening.The people with underlying diseases, the elderly persons and children and those who are working in the sun in daytime need to take care of their health more than others and they need to rest under shady places.”
The public notice of the ministry also expressed the symptoms of heat stroke and first aid procedures.
Director, Department of Public Health (MOH), Dr.Than Naing Soe said “If you are sweating a lot, you need to drink water more and minerals. If you appear itchy rashes on your skin, you can apply a cold, wet cloth or ice pack to the skin that itches and also can apply Thanakha. If the people who suffer heat wave, those who need to stay under shady places and in good ventilation and to drink water and mineral. To reduce the body temperature, you should have to give yourself a sponge bath with cool water, focusing on high-heat areas like forehead, armpits and groin.”
The areas with temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius should avoid showering immediately after returning from outside.The people should avoid excessive amounts of exercise, excessive amounts of alcohols and working in the sun from 10 AM to 5 PM. For those who have to do under the sun, they should wear the wide-brim sum protection hat, the light colored and loosing cotton cloth.
