Health Sector: MOH UM receives Senior Country Manager of GAVI

Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win received Mr. Dirk Gehl, Senior Country Manager of GAVI from Geneva of Switzerland at the Ministry on 19th March.

During the meeting, they cordially discussed the successful immunization program for the children nationwide during 2024 which achieved 75% coverage and efforts for preventing the spread of infectious diseases into the contagious ones.

The discussions also highlighted the Ministry’s efforts for immunization activities in the fur-flung areas, along with the catch-up programs and supplementary vaccination. They also made discussions on the matters pertaining to GAVI’s support on solar energy refrigerators and vehicles to transport vaccines to the places with electricity difficulty and cooperation to be made among the Ministry of Health and GAVI, WHO and UNICEF under the National Immunization Strategy (2026-2031).
