






On 14th December, Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win attended the 7th Myanmar Hepatology and Gastroenterology Conference at Wyndham Hotel in Yangon and made a speech.
In his opening speech, the Union Minister stressed the efforts of the Ministry in development of nation’s health sector such as providing necessary Hepatology and Gastroenterology medical equipment for General Hospitals across regions and states, and sending medical staff to the local and abroad training courses.
The Union Minister also expressed his appreciations for the Gastroenterologists and Hepatologist who are making strenuous efforts to improve the surgical treatment of digestive tract and liver disorders.
After cutting the ceremonial ribbons, the Union Minister and officials made a tour to conference gallery and medicines galleries. The theme of the conference is “Towards better GI and Liver Health Care”.
During the conference, the hepatologists and gastroenterologists from India, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, Indonesia, HongKong, UK and US will exchange their experiences and share knowledge. The two-day conference will bring opportunities and benefits to Myanmar hepatologists and gastroenterologists to extend their knowledge and improve their skills which will lead to enhance patient-center care.
In the afternoon, the Union Minister and officials overviewed the Colonoscopy treatment process at the Department of Gastroenterology of Yangon General Hospital. Colonoscopy treatment project is jointly conducted by 12 specialists from Myanmar and 7 specialists from Thailand, India and Indonesia and a total of 11 patients are already completed the treatment successfully.
