



The Ministry of Health launched a National Annual TB Evaluation Meeting for 2023 on Thursday.
Union Minister Professor Dr Thet Khaing Win made an opening speech, saying that prevention and treatment measures for tuberculosis have been carried out in collaboration with local and international organizations, as per the National Strategic Plan 2021-2025. Medicines and medical equipment for TB treatment are being provided with the budget allocation from the state.
He stressed the need to search for unexposed cases in areas with the least outbreaks, using the TB Preventive Therapy effectively. He also outlined to prioritize treatment to the drug resistant TB patient for the success of TB eradication works. About 10.8 million people have been infected with tuberculosis in 2023, with 1.25 million deaths. According to the WHO End TB Strategy, TB infection cases must be reduced by 50% compared to the cases in 2015 by 2025, with a 75% reduction in the death rate.
