Health Facilities: MOH Union Minister visits hospitals and department in Yangon

Union Minister for Health Prof. Dr Thet Khaing Win accompanied by officials visited Yangon Eye Hospital on Tuesday.
During the visit, they toured around the outpatient and inpatient wards, skill lab,eye examination rooms and lecture rooms. They then met with the medical superintendents and professors/specialists, ensuring that patients can receive comfortable treatment and made arrangements to provide equipment needed for eye surgery treatments.
The Union Minister and party heard reports about the operations of the National Eye Bank presented by ophthalmologist and in-charge of the Yangon National Eye Bank and fulfilled the requirements. Established in 1994,Yangon National Eye Bank conducted the cornea transplants to 140 patients, using 50 donated corneas during 2023.
Likewise, Mandalay National Eye Bank,founded in 1999, provided transplant treatments to 36 patients, using 31 donated corneas in the same year.Next, the Union Minister and party proceeded to Thaketa Specialist Hospital, observed the condition of the patients being treated in dental ward, met with the medical superintendents and specialists, fulfilling their needs. Dental Outpatient ward started operating on 9th October of 2023 at Thaketa Specialist Hospital and patients are receiving oral healthcare by specialists led by Dental Professor with modern equipment.
The Union Minister and party continued their visit to the Public Health Department, comforted outpatients and oversaw the medicines distribution, and the use and storage of medicines at the store as well as fulfilled the needs of patients.
