Health Facilities: Construction YGH annex building inspected

Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win, together with the officials, visited Yangon General Hospital on 1st October, and inspected the construction of 7-storey annex building.

Officials reported on the progress of construction and the Union Minister instructed to complete the construction works, meeting the set standard. He also stressed for installation of protective gears for security of the building and also for the convenience of the patients with disabilities.

The Union Minister and party later inspected the construction site and urged for ensuring the durability of the building with good ventilation system.  The annex building is being constructed with the allotted budget of over 21 billion and it is targeted to complete in the next fiscal year.

Upon completion, it will be equipped with the X-Ray Unit, Patient Wards and Lecture Hall. The Union Minister and party later visited the Radiation Unit and inspected the medical equipment.

He also inspected the installation of Bhabhatron II Cobalt machine, donated by the Government of India, and instructed to speedy implementing of the process for the convenience of the patients.

Yangon General Hospital is providing radiation treatment to about 1,000 cancer patients on a weekly basis.
