Health Care Sector: India donates cancer treatment equipment to YGH

India Embassy handed over the Bhabhatron-II and Imagin Simulator to the Ministry of Health, at a ceremony held at the Yangon General Hospital on 18th of July.

The Bhabhatron II is the latest and the most effective technology for delivering radiotherapy to cancer patients in critical need. The versatility of the machine allows treatment of cancer in different parts of the body and has been widely accepted as an efficient treatment modality by various cancer centers in India and abroad.

The Indian Ambassador to Myanmar stressed the close and abiding relationship between India and Myanmar, India’s equipment and capacity building assistance in Myanmar’s health sector and India’s initiatives in extending humanitarian assistance to neighboring countries. 

H.E. Shri Abhay Thakur, Indian Ambassador to Myanmar, said “India and Myanmar have long standing collaboration in multiple sectors very importantly in the health sector. We have work closely also in the capacity building sector. We have close collaboration with the University of Traditional Medicine, based in Mandalay. Going forward, I would say that we look forwards to working closely with Myanmar in supply and absorption and training of advanced medical care equipment.”

Union Minister DrThetKhaing Win highlighted the strong commitment of India to Myanmar during difficult circumstances such as during COVID-19 pandemic and aftermath of Cyclone Mocha, the efforts of the India to enhance the quality of life for all people in Myanmar and the strengthening of the bilateral friendship and cooperation between the two countries to improve the health and well-being of the people across Myanmar.
