More than 1,400 evacuees from wildfires on the Hawaiian island of Maui who remain in shelters, are still unable to go back to their homes. Citizen volunteers and people from aid organizations frequently came to deliver supplies such as bottled water and diapers.

Authorities gave temporary permits allowing the evacuees to return home in the hardest-hit city of Lahaina on Friday. On Saturday, many evacuees tried to drive back to Lahaina, hoping the ban will be lifted. But they banned access again, citing the confusion in the area. An aid worker was delivering necessary supplies to people who stayed home in the disaster-hit area.
