Hanoi plans to spend more than 209,000 USD on an emergency programme to address urban flooding. The projects include upgrading drainage systems, adding retention lakes, rehabilitating canals, and boosting pumping capacity in flood-prone areas.

Drainage works in West Lake, Long Biên, Đông Anh and Gia Lâm are set for completion by the second quarter of next year, while the Thụy Phuơng canal upgrade, aimed at improving flow to the Tô Lịch River and reducing flooding in the city’s northwest, is expected to finish before next summer.
