A ceremony for handing over the first batch of emergency relief supplies donated by the State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) of the People's Republic of China through the Myanmar Consulate General in Kunming for the people affected by the earthquake was held in the afternoon on April 7 at the temporary office in the Ministry of Information in Nay Pyi Taw.

The ceremony was attended by Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn, who received the donated supplies. At the start of the event, the Union Minister delivered a speech, expressing gratitude for the support. He spoke about the damages caused by the earthquake, the ongoing rescue efforts, the efforts to quickly restore electricity and drinking water, the plans to resume office operations, and the ongoing reconstruction efforts, as well as the challenges and needs that remain.

Following this, a representative from the State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) explained the donation of the relief materials for the earthquake victims and outlined the subsequent donations that would be made. The representatives from SPIC then presented the first batch of relief supplies to the Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn.

In addition, representatives from SPIC also delivered assistance supplies to the Ministry of Electric Power. The donation, valued at 400,000 yuan, included essential emergency food, water, household items, and insecticides. This was the first batch of aid, and it was announced that additional assistance would follow in two more batches: a second batch worth 500,000 yuan and a third batch worth one million yuan.
