The Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development held its technical equipment handover ceremony for the handicraft Village Project at the ministry on Friday.

Union Minister U Hla Moe attended the ceremony and made a speech. He said the handicraft village project is the second initiative of the Department of Small scale Industries and will be carried out in line with project standards and required materials. He noted the project aims to preserve and promote Myanmar’s cultural heritage in the long term, supporting national efforts to safeguard traditional culture at home and abroad.

The project will be implemented through three approaches: establishing states and regions handicraft villages, creating villages by handicraft groups, and forming handicraft wards, ensuring that Myanmar traditional crafts are preserved. He urged officials to implement the project successfully for the nation and cultural preservation as a whole.

The Union Minister and Deputy Minister then handed over project responsibilities to officials from the Mandalay Region Small-Scale Industries Department, as well as the committee chairmen of the MyinKaBar lacquerware handicrafts village project and the SanPya bamboo and rattan handicraft village project.

Later, the Permanent Secretary handed over the technical equipment for the village Project. Afterward, the Union Minister warmly greeted committee members, officers and trainees of the Village Project, encouraged for successful implementation and inspected the equipment.
