Haley kicks off her GOP campaign for White House

Republican Nikki Haley launched her 2024 presidential campaign on Wednesday that she's the first notable Republican to challenge Donald Trump for the nomination.

Haley, a former South Carolina governor and United Nations ambassador, made her first appearance in public as a White House hopeful in the historic coastal city of Charleston, casting herself as a figure for generational change who can help the party win the White House again.

She leaned heavily on her experience at the U.N., her background as the child of Indian immigrants and spoke in hopeful terms about the country. The event was also an early attempt to display strength in her home state.
