Guterres delivers New Year Message to the Globe

In his new year’s message, Secretary-General António Guterres said, “It’s clear the world has the resources to lift lives, heal the planet, and secure a future of peace and justice,” urging collective courage to act.

In a pre-recorded message, Guterres said, “As enter the New Year, the world stands at a crossroads, chaos and uncertainty surround the division, violence, climate breakdown. And systemic violations of international law. A retreat from the very principles that bind together as a human family.”

The Secretary-General said, “In 2026, he calls on leaders everywhere: Get serious. Choose people and planet over pain. And he urge everyone who hears this message: Play the part. The future depends on the collective courage to act.”
