Gunmen killed at least 39 people in "coordinated" attacks in southwestern Pakistan on Monday that largely targeted ethnic Punjabis.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), the most active militant separatist group claimed responsibility for an overnight operation in a statement.  The militants stopped several buses, trucks and vans on a highway connecting Punjab with Balochistan. The attackers burned at least 10 vehicles before fleeing.
