Guatemala: Central American teams compete in ancestral Mayan Ball Games

A Mayan shaman leads a purification ceremony in Guatemala before players from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador compete in the Third Central American Mayan Ball Games Tournament, which returns after a long break due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

For the participants, this is not just a game but a way to keep alive an ancestral tradition and "strengthen ties" between players from different Central American countries.
