Ground Inspection Tour: MoALI UM made ground inspection tour in Shan State

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung made a ground inspection to Sipin Garden of farm crops research division under Agriculture Research Department in Pyawbwe Township of Mandalay Region in the morning on 21st February, heard the clarification of responsible officials regarding research, production and implementation for the development of 11 crops including oil crop of HsinShwe Kyar-2, green gram, pigeon pea etc.

In responding to the clarifications, the Union Minister gave necessary instruction. Next, the Union Minister inspected seasonal vegetable seeds production of HlaingTet Farm of Vegetable and Fruit Development Center in Tharzi Township and the Director General of the Department of Agriculture Dr. Ye Tint Tun, farm in-charge and officials concerned clarified the ongoing tasks and works to be done as per the fiscal year.

Regarding with the clarifications, the Union Minister instructed necessary matters. Consequently, the Union Minister and departmental officials inspected the production of vegetable and fruit-based foodstuff by Dagon Foods Co., Ltdwhich leased a factory owned by the Department of Agriculture, heard the clarification on availability of raw materials, sale of finished goods and market status and gave necessary instruction to the officials and coordinated requirements.

After that, the Union Minister U Min Naung together with Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung inspected potato seed cold storage factory and the responsible persons of Heho Potato Farmers Association clarified the collecting and storing potato seeds and trial storage of ginger seed at the interval period and the status of potato plantation, production and distribution.

The officials from the department of Agriculture reported the implementation of technical assistance for the expansion of potato plantation and production in Shan State which is the largest potato producing area in Myanmar. In response, the Union Minister gave necessary instructions in detail. Then, Union Minister and Chief Minister inspected potato and garlic plantations with water sprinkling system and cordially met with the farmers and gave words of encouragement.
