





Chairman of the Central Committee on Supervising Ground Census Enumeration Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing held a meeting with the members of the Magway Region/District/Township committees on Supervising Ground Census Enumeration.
During this meeting in Magway Township, the Union Minister said it is important to get an accurate population census to be able to compile an accurate voter list in order to hold a free and fair multi-party democratic general election.
Now, the population census has been collected to some extent and verification is underway. Regarding the Magway Region, according to the regional security situation, there are still a few areas left where the population census can’t be collected yet, but it is necessary to carry out the collection by all possible means and also to issue national verification cards and family lists to those who meet the citizenship qualifications through the Pankhin project.
As the 2024 national census will be collected for 15 days from 1st to 15 of October, it is necessary to make preparations, the Union Minister added. Also, Chief Minister U Tint Lwin clarified plans to collect the population census in the areas where it hasn’t been done yet. And, members of the committee made discussions on cooperation.
